Alec Sutherland is a queer artist living in New York City. A storyteller since a young age, Alec has self-taught and worked across mediums, most notably with photography, since 2010. Their style is influenced by silver screen cinematics, surrealist art, balletic movement, and capturing quiet candor. Drawing from a diverse array of visual sources, their work seeks to create spaces for outsiders through documentation of the queer experience. They earned a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration and Management from Northeastern University in 2019.

As a photographer, they have helmed Sutherland Pictures, Inc. since 2010 with work published by Seventeen Magazine, The Avenue, Spoon University, featured on the Today Show, the Tamron Hall Show, and in pop-up galleries with Nowigo. They have covered Boston Fashion Week since 2016 and NYFW since 2019. They have developed album art for artists like MurrayWOW, Zach Seals, and Saifa. They have been commissioned to create for W Hotels, Drunk Elephant, Artis Brushes, Monster Energy, Desenio, Northeastern University, Puritan and Co., Gravel Travel, World of Wonder, Myro, Skin Sciences, and many others!

As a model, Alec is signed to EMG Models, and has appeared in Feroce Magazine and Boston Fashion Week, as well as campaigns for We Are Fluide, Cheetos, Parachute Home, and more.

As a poet, their work has been published in the Gateway Review, the Aperion Review, Rigorous Literary Magazine, Fearsome Critters Lit Mag, and in Z Publishing Houses’ Best Emerging Poet Series in 2017, 2018, and 2019. They has spoken about the power of LGTBQ+ storytelling in activism on panels for WeWork, Out for Undergrad, Ernst and Young, PTC, and the Boston Consulting Group and helped create the Gender Bending Fashion Exhibit at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. They served as the host of the biweekly beauty show “Queerie With…”, interviewing models, drag artists and Emmy nominees alike, the archive of which can now be found on Instagram.

As a musician and performer, they have performed at Boston Pride 2019, and at venues across New England including Machine, Club Cafe, Jacques, House of Yes, and the legendary Club Cumming. Their music is available on all streaming services!
